Johnson County Adult Detention Center – New Century, Kansas

The Johnson County Detention Center’s Masterplan, in four phases, incorporates 1,000-beds. Phase I of the Jail was designed with 264 beds and support spaces to accommodate the future Phase II, which will increase the jail building up to 500 beds. The master plan calls for a future second jail building, which will house an additional 500 beds. The jail facility is primarily medium security single-cells with some mixture of minimum security dormitory spaces. The management and operating plan for the facility is based on principles of direct supervision. Inmate housing support includes: administration, intake/transfer/release, classification, medical, staff support, programs, visitation, laundry, food services, vehicle sallyport, maintenance, access drives, landscape and utilities.
