KCK Fire Station No. 6 – Kansas City, Kansas

KCK Fire Station No. 6 is a 10,600 sf fire station. Located near the International Speedway. The station includes four total apparatus bays (back-in entry), three administrative offices, a training/conferencing center, training tower and decontamination area.

Brush Creek Cultural Corridor Masterplan – Kansas City, Missouri

The Masterplan is the beautification phase of the Brush Creek flood control project. Incorporating extensive community input, the master-plan and design provide for a cultural and recreational pedestrian corridor that would maintain and expand Brush Creek’s status as a unique aesthetic feature on a regional, national and international level.

City Hall Lofts Rehabilitation & Preservation – Kansas City, Kansas

GA participated in a development team with City Vision Ministries and Bank of America Community Development to transform the historic City Hall into a mixed-use style loft-style development. This landmark property in downtown Kansas City, Kansas was originally constructed in 1911, this building is listed on the National Historic Register.

The renovated City Hall houses 44 lofts ranging between 605 sf to 1,200 sf. Each loft consists of an open floor plan that showcases the original ornamental detailing and molding, large windows, interior vaults, and original marble, wood, and mosaic tile floors. The building also includes exquisite walnut paneling that was painstakingly restored.

Johnson County Adult Detention Center – New Century, Kansas

The Johnson County Detention Center’s Masterplan, in four phases, incorporates 1,000-beds. Phase I of the Jail was designed with 264 beds and support spaces to accommodate the future Phase II, which will increase the jail building up to 500 beds. The master plan calls for a future second jail building, which will house an additional 500 beds. The jail facility is primarily medium security single-cells with some mixture of minimum security dormitory spaces. The management and operating plan for the facility is based on principles of direct supervision. Inmate housing support includes: administration, intake/transfer/release, classification, medical, staff support, programs, visitation, laundry, food services, vehicle sallyport, maintenance, access drives, landscape and utilities.

North Kansas City Community Center

This project involved programming and design for a full-ammenity community recreation center. Located in the small community of North Kansas City, the Health & Community Activity Center was designed to offer total fitness and recreational facilities to the city’s residents. During the day, natural light is present, in more than 90% of the structure.

African Forest Exhibit – Kansas City Zoo – Kansas City, Missouri

GA a five-firm consultant team for the design of this premiere exhibit as a part of the Kansas City Zoo’s major renovation program. This exhibit features five animal holding facilities and places a heavy emphasis on interpretive exhibits through the interpretive/research/visitor services buildings.

KC ATA Bus Simulator – Kansas City, Missouri

The design increased and modernized training spaces with a new 6,200 sf training facility adjacent to the main bus barn. The new facility contains two large, adaptable classrooms, meeting space, staff offices, continuing education stations and the centerpiece of the new training program: two state-of-the-art bus simulators.

KCATA Independence Transit Center
