St. Margaret’s of Scotland Catholic Church – Lee’s Summit, Mo.

The approach to the St. Margaret’s Catholic Church is integral to the design concept of creating a Prairie Mission. For this reason the parking, in plan, was diminished so as to not be the first element encountered on the journey to the Mission Church. The St. Margaret’s Catholic Church project is a community in the making. The realization of the Church master plan is divided into three phases. Phase I being the Temporary Sanctuary, Phase II the permanent Worship Sanctuary, and Phase III an eventual Catholic School. The buildings of the three phases are gathered around a central formal courtyard defined by an internal loggia. This covered colonnade offers shelter while unifying the buildings of the Church.
